Accounting Clerk

Logan County Electric Cooperative provides reliable electric utility service to 4,700 homes, businesses, farms, and schools in Logan County.

We are committed to delivering reliable power to our membership and maintaining a strong reputation in the communities we serve. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an accounting clerk with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to join our dynamic finance team. We have a need for an accounting clerk who will perform a variety of functions to support the Finance and Accounting Department.

Position Summary

This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Finance and Accounting Department. Effectively performs accounts payable and receivable daily with back-up in payroll and other functions. Analyzes situations, trouble-shoots, and applies sound judgment decisions with attention to detail and accuracy in all assignments. Exhibits excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills amongst both internal and external networks.

Job Type: On Site Full-Time, 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday Entry-level position (Advancement opportunities available)

Pay: $20.50 per hour (experience will be considered)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Effectively performs accounts payable function to include entering, authorizing, and posting invoices, processing payments, reconciling petty cash, and balancing credit card statements.
  • Processes accounts receivables according to established procedure
  • Creates and processes purchase orders in accordance with established procedure
  • Assists in compiling and reviewing data for various journal entries
  • Completes required reports and filings in a timely manner
  • Processes Board of Trustee expenses and maintains board expense spreadsheet
  • Update and maintain title and vehicle plate/tag records on fleet vehicles.
  • Prepares analysis and assists during internal and external audits
  • Cross trained to accurately provide support to the Billing department

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in accounting or related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is desirable
  • Upon offer, employee will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Capable of performing job duties on-site throughout a standard 8-hour day. Normal work environment is 100% indoors
  • Communicate effectively with others and handle conflict professionally
  • Maintain concentration for extended periods of time with computer use
  • Frequently operates standard office machines
  • Requires sitting for an extended duration with frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 20 pounds), occasionally requires stooping, crouching, reaching
  • May be required to travel to attend meetings, seminars, etc., which are related to specific job functions
